Interview with Kiana Tom
The Star of ESPN's Kiana's Flex Appeal
Fit and Pretty Example of Success!

HER PROFESSIONAL FUTURE

Do you still have the intentions to enter the acting field? If you are, what kind of preparations are you doing to be properly prepared? Have you been getting good scripts that require you to be more than just fit and pretty? What kind of roles are you looking for?

I loved my role in Universal Soldier: the Return with Jean Claude Van Damme. That was one of the highlights of my career, I want to do more films. I feel comfortable in "action/athletic" roles and would like to do more while I get my feet wet. Each shot was repeated app. 10 times, there is alot of down time on a movie set as compared to Flex Appeal where I am directing, hosting, producing, etc. I get bored if I sit around doing nothing, so the action in the film kept me going! I can't imagine doing a serious, drama where you sit all day-I'd go crazy! I have a few good scripts I am interested in. We'll see.

Tell me about the fun, unique and different things related to your film work in Universal Soldier: The Return and Cyber Bandits?

They were developed to meet the needs and requests of her many viewers.

  • Cyberbandits: For one of the scenes, I got to wear a $10,000 Crystal Dress made solely of crystal beads. It weighed about 20 lb. and the Crystals had to be placed "just right," if you know what I mean. It was a challenge to walk around in that all day in high heels. What a leg workout! Universal Soldier: The Return: 3 favorite scenes come into mind: The opening scene where Jean Claude and I are being chased on Wave Runners and I am shooting bad guys while he drives, we are jumping from Wave Runners to boats, to hydroplanes, etc. On the days of the shoot, it was pouring rain and there were alligators in the water, it was so exciting and scary to make sure we didn't fall in the swamp.

Another fun scene was when I got to shoot he U.S. Smart Gun replica and blow off the villain's (Pro Wrestler Bill Goldberg's) head to save Jean Claude. The US Smart Gun is huge and has a heat seeking missile that once shot, seeks the heat of the intended victim, even goes around corners and explodes once the body heat of the target is found. I took Weapons training courses to prepare from the best in the business who also trained Mel Gibson for Lethal Weapon, Bridget Fonda and Arnold. When I kick Bill Goldberg's gun out of his hands and jump on his back and ride him down the stairs like a sled and smash his head through the wall on impact-(he's solid muscle and I think he is app 250 lb., 6'7", I am 5'6"110 lb., like that would ever happen! But it was fun to do it and it looked real on screen!)

How did you get the tv appearances in the Drew Carey Show? Is this a direction that you want to go in? Did you enjoy being in Pictionary: The TV Game Show? Are you in any other tv shows?

Drew Carey told me that he loves to play Poker in Vegas. One day he and his friends were playing poker and he looked up on the sports bar big screen and saw my show. He told his "people" that he would like to have me guest star.

Pictionary was so fun, I love that game. As a gift, they gave me a computer version of the game along with a bathrobe, board game, etc. My friends love to play that game with me.

Tell me a little about your thoughts on your participation with the comic strip Captain RibMan? How much input did you have, what were the comments from your fans, etc. and did you enjoy the humor?

The Captain Ribman Kiana Cartoon is so funny! I think their art dept. is fabulous. I am thinking of incorporating the comic into my new shows. I like the Cartoon version of Kiana.

How long will you be doing this and what are you looking to do in the future?

I will be flexing and pumping and lifting as long as I can........What ever I do in the future: movies, family, kids, books, sitcoms, etc., I always want to stay in fitness. I love it!

In your "Next Big Movie" - who would you want to act with and/or be directed by?

I would love to co-star with Tom Cruise (me and a trillion other actresses), Brad Pitt, Keanu Reaves (Keanu and Kiana, cute huh?) Nicholas Cage, Samuel L. Jackson, Gene Hackman, Tommy Lee Jones, any of the major male stars! Females: I would love to work with Angelina Jolie-she's so cool, my favorite actress, I've seen all her movies, Helen Hunt, Goldie Hawn....
